We are a busy bunch of people these days
Most of us have so many things to do, to have or to be. This can create a pretty "busy head":), with many thoughts going around in our minds. To create some peace of mind, the advice I often read or hear is to just be quiet and still and stop your thoughts. "Just" be still and stop your thoughts... that is easier said than done, right? Here is an interesting exercise I learned a while back that helps to still the mind. I thought I'd share it with you.

When you feel your head is spinning and your mind needs a break, a great way to get your mind off things is to go outside (you can do it inside as well but the fresh air will help to freshen up) an do the following:

go for a walk and on your way, start describing the things you see around you in detail. For instance, stop at a tree and start describing it: "it is a big tree, the trunk is green and brown and has wholes in it. I see some insects crawling around as well. The leaves are hand shaped, there are many many leaves. They make a lot of noise as the wind goes through them", etc. I think you get the picture. You will notice that you are so focused on the details that you will forget all other things that where going through your mind before.

You can also do this with someone else and describe things to each other. Alternatively, you can ask each other questions such as "what does that tree look like?" or "what sounds do you hear around you?". Both of you will get a nice break and your minds will be refreshed. A wonderful way to relax together!
